2018 World Golf Cup Report
2nd June 2018 – Allesley Park
“History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it.” – Sir Winston Churchill
A fiercely contested WGC2018 was…contested on a sunny day in Allesley, slightly later than usual due to scheduling conflicts. After losing the odd ball to the long grass and the swamp it was close going into the 18th with only one point separating Will & JB (St Kitts & Nevis), Alex and Rich Ayres (Sweden) and Lewis & Ian (Ethiopia), with Jimmy & Tank (Russia) fighting a rear-guard action some 3.5 points off the pace.

The eighteenth hole held great trepidation for Will after falling foul of the rough for the last couple of years, thwarting his chances for a maiden title. Roles were reversed this year however as Will & JB held their nerve to hole out whilst Lewis & Ian and Alex & Rich struggled with finding their balls. Conversely, underdogs Tank & Jimmy Putin a great performance to bag the runners up spot.

Honourable mention to Rich Ayres, making his Golf World Cup debut and carrying Alex. Hope your back gets better soon Richard!
